These are the stories of RSD kids who are in partial or total remission. The list will continue to grow as more kids are able to become pain-free (or have greatly reduced pain). Congratulations to everyone in remission! Your hard work has been rewarded.
Stefanie's Story
A 12- year-old girl tells
her story of how she went through physical therapy and how hard it was to keep
the courage and keep trying step by step, but in the end it was worth it.
After months of pain, Stefanie is now in full remission due to two lumbar
sympathetic blocks and has now resumed many of her normal activities,
including learning how to ride a horse!
Melanie's Story
A mother tells the story of
her daughter who had to struggle with RSD for more than a year. After having an
epidural block in for several months, 12-year-old Melanie is now completely pain-free and has
been for over 6 months! She is now back into school, talking and laughing with
her friends, and is getting ready to play softball again.
Stephanie's Story
A mother tells the story of
her young 11-year-old daughter who had to fight RSD for too long. After being in
a wheelchair, Stephanie had three lumbar sympathetic blocks and is now walking.
She has been completely pain-free for almost a year and is enjoying swimming and ice skating, along with
several other sports and hobbies.
"How far
you go in life depends on you being
tender with the young,
compassionate with the aged,
sympathetic of the striving,
and tolerant of both the weak and strong....
because some day in life you will have been all of these."
George Washington Carver
