If you are reading this, you might be one of the kids or teenagers that has RSD or Reflex Sympathetic Dystrophy. I am also an RSD teen. Have you ever wished that you could just escape from RSD and forget about it? I have wished this many times.
Throughout my RSD, when things became really tough, I found my comfort and support in e-mailing other RSD kids. Unfortunately, there are very few sites for RSD kids to chat on, so it took me awhile to find e-mail groups or chat rooms. That's when I first began thinking about making a site for chronic pain kids, specifically about RSD.
I wanted my site to be different and I did not want it having just lots of medical facts because while the info is nice to offer explanations and definitions, it's not going to help our frustrations or fears. What I really wanted was to make a retreat, an escape from RSD when we just need to get away from it. I knew that I could not make everyone's pain go away, but I wanted to create a place where RSD kids could go and our pain would be believed and understood.
You know what the worst part about chronic pain is for us? So many people refuse to believe that kids can be in pain, other than acute pain like a broken bone or a sprain. If it takes us a while to get better or if we can not get better, then many people assume that we are hypochondriacs, liars, or that we are not trying to get better! I wanted kids to be able to come here if they ever needed a retreat away from the rude stares or cruel comments.
We, the ones in pain, always long for a miracle or a cure. Maybe one day that will happen. Until then, please help us raise awareness for RSD. We want our "invisible" pain to become visible. Our pain needs to be recognized.
Thank you for visiting my website...Remember that you are always welcome when you need to escape.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.
